Course overview:
The global shift towards digitalization of utility services has made Smart Metering Systems a cornerstone of modern energy, water, and gas management. Unlike traditional meters, smart meters provide real-time monitoring, remote communication, two-way data exchange, and integration with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Meter Data Management (MDM) systems. These capabilities not only improve operational efficiency but also enhance revenue assurance, customer service, and energy conservation efforts.
This course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, technical skills, and practical competencies required to install, configure, and maintain smart metering systems. Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of the core components of smart meters, the communication protocols they use, and how they interface with utility systems
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
• Understand the principles, architecture, and components of smart metering systems.
• Perform safe and correct installation of smart meters in compliance with standards.
• Configure smart meters and associated communication modules (RF, PLC, GSM/GPRS, IoT).
• Integrate smart meters with AMI and MDM systems.
• Perform diagnostics, firmware updates, and troubleshooting of smart meters.
• Implement preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and data protection in smart metering systems.
Who Should Attend:
• Electrical engineers and technicians
• Utility field service teams
• Energy auditors and inspectors
• IT and network engineers in utilities
• Quality assurance and compliance officers
• Technical staff involved in smart grid operation
IN HOUSE AND ONLINE TRAINING
While both In-House and Online training can present with cost-effectiveness and time-efficacy, there are some very specific differences between in-house courses and those based online.
The demand for additional courses by individuals or groups of people is increasing. Still, it depends entirely on the preferences of a person what type of training he or she wants to receive. Online courses and in-house training carry some similarities but they are considered to exhibit some very pivotal differences too. Despite that, both types of learning can be really beneficial for attendees.
